Japanese TVCs

Sony HF-X Japanese TVC Maxell UDI series Early Sony Walkman Ad Strangest Sony Walkman Ad ever. iPod ads have nothing on this: Monkey: “Please let me die . . .” Still, I do have a soft spot for Japan.

Tape Deck II. The Revenge!

So Sony are releasing a brand new tape deck. Now you can actually play those cassette tapes, and not just collect them? Maybe not. Still, it’s interesting that a large company such as Sony has acknowledged that a market for cassette tape products exists and has invested in it’s production. Though, I suppose it’d be a [...]

Cash-ettes?

Anybody else think of that catchy name for these wallets? Eh? Eh? Here’s a lo-fi version (which I dig): from: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=113031.0;topicseen This one’s a little more evolved . . . and it’s got instructions! from: http://www.instructables.com/id/Cassette-Tape-Wallet_1/ This one’s the ‘pro’ version – that is, it’s actually made for retail. Vintage cassette decks.

www.vintagecassette.com An awesome, detailed collection of cassette decks from the 70’s to today (today?). Fantastic. Actually, I have a Sharp RT-480X, similar to the Sony above, that I didn’t find on their site. It’s not mint, but maybe I should do the “web 2.0″ thing and contribute, eh?

Real recognise reel – Part 2

Dang! Doesn’t it suck when you start something, then discover someone else has already done it!? “I am using images posted to that site and others gathered online, to make observations how people interact with the media format known as compact cassettes (pre-recorded, re-recorded, and mix tapes).” http://mycassettes.blogspot.com/ Not really – I’ll just be contributing to the greater discourse [...]

Real recognise reel – Part 1.

Sure, cheesy title, but I must firstly give credit where credit’s due. Cassette Jam http://earth.prohosting.com/th0715/cassettes/top.htm This is absolutely the best collection of cassette tapes I have ever come across. Period. It’s a Japanese site, so I can’t really give you any more info about it – yes it’s old, but it’s still so good!. The guy who created it also [...]
