Mice n tapes

Love this idea – though it doesn’t look like this one would actually function . . . it would be great if somehow the mice could choose the tracks – you know, (run) fast forward and cue it up. Plus, you’d hope the little fellas didn’t develop a taste for tape! Anyway it was one of . [...]

Real recognise reel – Part 3.

Wow. I’ve known about this site for ages, and shame on me, I’ve neglected to post on it until now. Shame on me. tapedeck.org If Cassette Jam is the King, this site is surely the Prince. 355 large images of cassettes, sorted by brand, playing time and tape quality. What can I say? I’m a nitwit. Respect.

Japanese TVCs

Sony HF-X Japanese TVC Maxell UDI series Early Sony Walkman Ad Strangest Sony Walkman Ad ever. iPod ads have nothing on this: Monkey: “Please let me die . . .” Still, I do have a soft spot for Japan.

Tape Deck II. The Revenge!

So Sony are releasing a brand new tape deck. Now you can actually play those cassette tapes, and not just collect them? Maybe not. Still, it’s interesting that a large company such as Sony has acknowledged that a market for cassette tape products exists and has invested in it’s production. Though, I suppose it’d be a [...]

From: http://www.designboom.com/shop/cassettewallet.html Very nicely done. You can buy them in all sorts of [...]

It made for a great logo, at least.

They had no idea what was just around the corner. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_Taping_is_Killing_Music Quote from funky ‘ol Wikipedia: “‘Home Taping Is Killing Music‘ was the slogan of a 1980s anti-copyright infringement campaign by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), a British music industry trade group. With the rise in cassette recorder popularity, the BPI feared that people being able to record [...]

Vintage cassette decks.

www.vintagecassette.com An awesome, detailed collection of cassette decks from the 70’s to today (today?). Fantastic. Actually, I have a Sharp RT-480X, similar to the Sony above, that I didn’t find on their site. It’s not mint, but maybe I should do the “web 2.0″ thing and contribute, eh?
