AT-AT Boombox

Well. I’m not big a fan of Star Wars, and would never buy this, yet it sure would have saved all the old b-boys from getting sore shoulders. It would be great if it actually nodded it’s ‘head’ and walked to the beat. via gizmodo (thanks B!)

Mice n tapes

Love this idea – though it doesn’t look like this one would actually function . . . it would be great if somehow the mice could choose the tracks – you know, (run) fast forward and cue it up. Plus, you’d hope the little fellas didn’t develop a taste for tape! Anyway it was one of . [...]

Cassettes on the wall

Came across these images on flickr. Well, if you see some roughly painted rectangles on the wall, I’d say the best thing to do is turn them into rough drawings of cassette tapes. Hey, I’ve got a backlog of posts I’ve gotta get through, but I’ve been so busy with work . . . more soon. Also, [...]

Crocheted cassette tape ipod mini cozy

This I like. From www.craftster.org I like that they have used the actual spools as a practical feature. I like that they have used both Queen and Boyz II Men cassette tapes to make this. Nice work.

Cassette tape badges

Making badges from cassette tape graphics. Well, why not. Actually, the simple, flat, colourful, 1970s ‘tech ’style has many fans. I can see why. I’ve never seen any CD or DVD packaging with as much style . . . Or perhaps I’m 30 years to early Oh, and effektive design are selling these online : www.effektivedesign.co.uk/badges/new-cassette-badge-sets/ This post actually [...]

Cassette decks and performance art

Ferric-oxide Archaeology www.rainerlinz.net/NMA/articles/Ferric-oxide.html “A survey of audio cassette player manipulation techniques in live performance, 1977- 91″ An excellent run-down of some cassette player manipulation by Melbourne performers of experimental music. Apparently the decade 1975-85, were the golden years There’s some great examples of “hardware-hacking”, as we’d call it these days. But this one’s my favourite: “”Our Electronic Heritage” [...]
