Serious about Sony

It’s no joking matter. . . . a scene from that mystical time when cassette tapes reigned and CDs were the harbinger of the digital age. A few things to note about this pic: Is that the original Walkman on the left there? Actually, no, it’s not. That’s a TV Walkman on the right! Uh-oh . . . Betamax It’s [...]

AT-AT Boombox

Well. I’m not big a fan of Star Wars, and would never buy this, yet it sure would have saved all the old b-boys from getting sore shoulders. It would be great if it actually nodded it’s ‘head’ and walked to the beat. via gizmodo (thanks B!)

Mice n tapes

Love this idea – though it doesn’t look like this one would actually function . . . it would be great if somehow the mice could choose the tracks – you know, (run) fast forward and cue it up. Plus, you’d hope the little fellas didn’t develop a taste for tape! Anyway it was one of . [...]

Crocheted cassette tape ipod mini cozy

This I like. From www.craftster.org I like that they have used the actual spools as a practical feature. I like that they have used both Queen and Boyz II Men cassette tapes to make this. Nice work.

Photographer Lyle Owerko’s Boombox project: www.owerko.com/#mi=2&pt=1&pi=10000&s=0&a=4&p=0&at=0 There’s a collection of image of various types of Boomboxes. “BOOM boxes”, funny name, when you think about it. “Ghetto Blaster” is probably stranger. Blasting the ghetto . . . ? Anyway, he’s got some fame from this project . . . He’s collaborated with Gelaskins to create a series of skins for your Macbook, [...]

Real recognise reel – Part 3.

Wow. I’ve known about this site for ages, and shame on me, I’ve neglected to post on it until now. Shame on me. tapedeck.org If Cassette Jam is the King, this site is surely the Prince. 355 large images of cassettes, sorted by brand, playing time and tape quality. What can I say? I’m a nitwit. Respect.
