Candy Chang does some really cool, interesting and community minded work, for instance a clear and informative guide for the thousands street vendors in NYC, or even community chalkboards for townships in South Africa.

She does the kind of work that makes me feel that my life lacks any creativity at all. Yeah thanks Candy . . .

Anyway, the piece featured here is not quite as extensive as those, but it has got cassette tapes in it. So that’s why it’s appearing here.

A few things to note about this pic:

• Is that the original Walkman on the left there? Actually, no, it’s not.
• That’s a TV Walkman on the right!
• Uh-oh . . . Betamax
• It’s amazing to think that you can get almost all the capabilities of this equipment in a device that fits in the palm of your hand.
• It’s difficult to tell by his expression if determined . . . or just confused.

The ‘mix-tape’ is a fun graphic device for the invites and a cute metaphor for the wedding itself – beats the pants off your standard script type and cherubs style invites!

I’m not big a fan of Star Wars, and would never buy this, yet it sure would have saved all the old b-boys from getting sore shoulders. It would be great if it actually nodded it’s ‘head’ and walked to the beat.

I kinda dislike posting on things that I find on competitor’s sites (arrgrh! Designboom!)
Well anyway, it looks cool, yet the concept seems a little forced . . . you know, whack a graphic of a cassette over a couple of dials and all of a sudden, hey! Cassette watch!
But!! Look, it’s still cool, and if they weren’t sold out, I’d consider purchasing one!

And you thought it was all cassette collections and old boom boxes . . .
